PRINT Image Matching (P.I.M.) - for better pictures
EPSON has developed a technology they call PRINT Image Matching (P.I.M.), which is meant to enhance the color richness of the photos you print on your EPSON photo printer.
The idea is, to try to overcome the limitation of the sRGB color space that is outputted from most consumer grade digital cameras.
While it is nice to have a standard like the sRGB color space, it might also put a limitation on the digital camera technology. Most digital cameras are capable of capturing more colors than the sRGB color space can represent, therefore the P.I.M. technology is adding additional color and capture information about the picture into the EXIF header of the JPEG files that are outputted from the cameras.
The intention of P.I.M. is, to make it easy to just print out what the camera captured without any manipulation of the picture and then get a very good color balanced image.
