PMA 2003

21. February - 5. March 2003
PMA 2003
The PMA (Photo Marketing Association International - PMAI) show is a huge, annual show exhibiting new products from the photography industry.
The PMA 2003 is held at Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada USA from 2 - 5 March 2003.

Like at the Photokina trade fair in Cologne, Germany (held every second year) a lot of new products are announced just before the show begins and while the show is running.
I attended the Photokina 2002 in September, but I'm not going to attend the PMA (it's a bit far from where I live, to say the least), so instead I'll just guide you to sites that will cover the PMA 2003.

[12.02.03] : Now it's time for PMA 2004, read the news here.

[NEWS]
(This is a list of selected news that I find interesting)

05.03.03 : Last day of PMA 2003.

03.03.03 : Leica announces a new handmade rangefinder - the Leica MP. I'm no Leica expert, but it looks a bit like the M3 to me. Build-in TTL metering.
When the M6 was discontinued lately, there was no full-mechanical Leica M left - the M7 requires a battery except for 1/60 and 1/125 sec. - so this is where the MP comes in.

A new mechanical winder for the camera, the LEICAVIT, is also announced.

Read what Erwin Puts has to say about this new Leica rangefinder.

03.03.03 : Olympus announces that they will show a prototype of a "Four Thirds System" camera. The Four Thirds System concept was presented months ago and is based on a 4/3-inch imaging chip and a lens mount that will be shared by all producers of Four Thirds cameras.
Olympus is also presenting an impressing line of fast lenses from 14 to 300mm (28 - 600mm 35mm equivalent).
The system will not be introduced to the market until September.
Read press releases at Olympus and at DPReview.com.
There is now also a Four Thirds website.

02.03.03 : PMA 2003 started today.

02.03.03 : By mistake I seem to have called the new D-SLR from Canon "D10" - this is wrong, the correct name is of course Canon EOS 10D - my mistake, sorry. This name seems to follow the normal Canon naming convention then(?). Would be interesting to also see a 100D perhaps?
