Hide your printer!
I allow myself to move a bit away from subjects directly related to photography, because I want to show you I'm "storing" my printer.
Making room for the digital darkroom
I live in the city. Living in a city often means that one has limited space and you can't afford to dedicate a whole room to your digital darkroom.
So, where to put that big A3+ printer of yours? It takes up quite a lot of space on a desk and sitting there it also collects a lot of dust. Dust that might stick to your photos just after printing(!)
A solution ...
When looking for a solution to that problem, I saw that the Swedish furniture company IKEA has several solutions for your "home office" (and therefore also for your "home digital darkroom").
At IKEA I found a system called TORE (clicking the link here will send you to the US IKEA site, but the furniture is sold pretty much all over the world!). In the TORE line there is a drawer, with a folding front to make room for a keyboard:

I bought this drawer and modified it a bit: I moved the upper drawer one step down (requires you to drill new holes) and I put in a hinge (a "piano hinge") to make a lit of the top:

The IKEA TORE drawer modified - 1 2 3!

A hinge in the top plate
As the image above shows, I can now get my printer ready in seconds, while also store it away when not in use. The last drawer is big enough to contain inks and paper supplies. This solution easily contains my Epson 1290.
Hope this can inspire you, to make room for that big photo printer of yours!
