About
1. What is The QUICKfind PHOTO browser?
The QUICKfind PHOTO browser will let you gain quick access to explanations for photographic terms.
- Looking up photographic terms is now easier than ever before.
2. How does it work?
When you move the mouse cursor over any word inside your Microsoft® Internet Explorer or inside any QUICKfind PHOTO browser tab, that word is looked up in The Photo Glossary.
You can select if you want the QUICKfind PHOTO browser to look up the word beneath the mouse cursor whenever you press the CTRL-key or you can simply ask QUICKfind PHOTO browser to start searching every time you move to a new word (default).
3. User Tabs
In the browser you'll find tabs which can present any website of your choice - like a range of your favorite sites f.ex.
You can add any number of tabs yourself, and you'll also find some pre-defined tabs.
See: 6.3.3 Options/Add new tab
4. Pre-defined tabs
In this free version of the QUICKfind PHOTO browser you will find the following pre-defined tabs:
4.1 The Photo Glossary
The
Peter Ashby-Hayter Glossary of Photo Terms.
This is the tab on which you'll have the QUICKfind functionality that grabs words from any
Microsoft® Internet Explorer window and look it up in the glossary.
4.2 QF news (PHOTOgraphical.NET QUICKfind news)
News related to the QUICKfind PHOTO browser will be announced here. It can be updates to the program or to the glossary.
4.3 Help
The last pre-defined tab is this help text you are reading now.
5. The Photo Glossary
The Peter Ashby-Hayter Glossary of Photo Terms are found on the very first pre-defined tab.
5.1 Searching
When looking up in the glossary the QUICKfind browser will first search for the word as a
headword and then it will find
occurrences of the word in the article texts. Below is an example of looking up the word "Flash" :
6 matches are found of the word "Flash" in the headwords (called "Headword match"), see upper part of the example above, and 33 occurrences of the word "Flash" are found in the article texts (called "Content match"). These occurrences are highlighted by a yellow background.
If you want to look a word you see inside the glossary itself, then simply right-click on the mouse and the word beneath the moue-cursor is looked up immediately.
5.2 Contribute
You can contribute to this glossary and thereby help it to grow and develop.
Simply send you contribution and suggestions to the Editor Peter Ashby-Hayter:
Add some new "JARGON"
